Nice reminder that we don't always have to put all the work of maintaining consistency on the writer.

I really liked the idea of "W+R>N," i.e., the number of copies that a writer waits to see plus the number of copies that a reader waits to see must be greater than the total number of replicas to be stored. Parameterizing over W and R gives system-designers a nice knob to trade-off the latency and availability seen by writers versus readers. I don't think I've seen this parameterization before.
