Some discussion on aspects of decision making in response to participants using a fire fighting model. interesting things to note: even minimal delay in feedback has adverse effects on learning to control the task - From subsequent experiments concluded that participants realised that there was a feedback delay but could not come up with a strategy for compensating for them. This is mirrored by several other papers. - Subjects did not use the added complexity of the fire fighting units (some had greater effectiveness than others) as they could not come up with a strategy to use the differences to their advantage. I hypothesise that as people gain training in this that they would eventually start to use these differences, but in the limited time they do the best they can and not worry about all the details.
