X Abstract

After 25 years of conflict style-collective bargaining, certain colleges and universities within the United States are beginning to experiment with interest-based or collaborative bargaining, using models taken from industrial experiments. This article describes the early experiences with interest-based bargaining as practiced at two public universities. The historical development of interest-based bargaining is provided, followed by a description of the process and outcomes of the use of the bargaining techniques at the two universities
