I am discovering citeulike while I perform a review of tools to manage references. So far I am impressed.
EndNote looks great but it looks also (terribly) aged (and it works only for Windows and Mac). My University library provides RefWorks which is great (why using EndNote then?). Plus it works entirely online and I can share things, and it works very nicely with Linux.
Now this "cite" takes the cake I believe. I rely on BibTex and I could not care less about MS Word(TM) -I had terrible experiences in the past with long documents both with this one and with OpenOffice.org, a very respectable competitor. This removes EndNote from the map. If I wanted to go back I could always export the references to EndNote from there anyway...
Very nice interface, folksnomy, groups, private documents, open which is inviting to a large user base, it does everything I need. As a developer I consider giving it a hand at some point and get back to the community. What else?
