What is CiteULike Gold?

Gold is a set of extra features for CiteULike.

Wasn't CiteULike free?

Yes, and all the features that were free are still free.

Why have you introduced Gold?

CiteULike has been completely free since its creation in 2006, funded mostly from our own pockets and occasional sponsorship (thank you Springer). Recently we added some more advertisements, but we need to be able to fund future developments, hardware, hosting and bandwidth costs, etc.

What do I get for my money?

Below is a list of what you'll get, and we'll expand this over time.

Custom Home Page

With a Gold subscription you can specify which page you prefer to go to when you first launch CiteULike.

You may choose from a preset list or specify any link you like.

No more adverts

You won't see any distracting advertisements, with the added benefit of getting back more screen space.

However, if you're one of those people who actually likes adverts, we give you the option of turning them back on.

PDF Annotations

Annotate your PDFs with notes and other highlights.

Choose the number articles on each page

On list pages (libraries, search results, etc.) you can customize how many articles you see per page, between 10 and 250.

Priority Support

We will priorize any questions, bugs or feature requests (but make no promises)

Citation Formats

You may choose from more than 1,500 extra citation formats.

Page Views

See how many times other users have viewed your article pages.

Publish attachments

You can make your PDFs (and other attachments) visible to everyone, if you have the rights to do so. Perhaps you want to give your peers a chance to comment on a work-in-progress.

Duplicate Detection

When you post an article to CiteULike, we try hard to ensure that the article isn't already in your library. In some circumstances this is not possible so Gold users have access to this tool which can help you maintain your library by identifying duplicates.
