Multi-channel MAC protocols can improve the throughput of a wireless ad hoc network by allowing multiple nodes to transmit concurrently on different non-overlapping channels. Such protocols can use dynamic channel selection schemes for reducing the contention in each channel, leading to smaller number of collisions, backoffs, and retransmissions.
