AbstractIn this paper, we propose a multisegment optical network framework as a tool to solve a generalized category of problems related to end-to-end provisioning over interconnected optical networks. Based on the multisegment framework, we developed routing schemes for multigranularity multidomain optical networks. For examples of regional all-optical networks interconnected over an all-optical WDM backbone under a variety of traffic conditions, we present and compare numerical results. The performance results demonstrated the ability of our schemes to handle various network conditions under different control plane architectures.
