X Abstract

In-band crosstalk can pose important limitations in an all-optical wavelength-division-multiplexed network. In this letter, the multicanonical Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is applied for the study of the statistical behavior of the in-band crosstalk noise. The proposed method is accurate, efficient, and easy to use. The obtained error probabilities are compared with a previously proposed semianalytical model and are found to be in excellent agreement. The MCMC method is also used to study the asymptotic behavior of in-band crosstalk noise.
