Abstract

In this article the president of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education analyzes one of the most critical problems in American edu cation. As dean of the College of Educa tion of the University of Minnesota, the first chairman (1946-1948) of the National Commission on Teacher Education and Professional Standards, and participant and leader for more than two decades in practically every major organization or movement for the improvement of teacher education in the United States, Dean Peik brings a rich experience and a deep understanding to bear upon the problem. 10.1177/002248715000100103
