When and Where: 5.30pm Thursday 24 July 2008 Victoria University of Wellington Architecture and Design School Dunlop Terrace / Vivian St Wellington The Plant Room launch party will be held next week, and will feature a lecture by Brenda Vale and a presentation from the Sustainable Habitat Challenge 09 Wellington Team. The Plant Room is Wellington's response to the Sustainable Habitat Challenge 09 (SHaC09), a challenge laid down by the Ministry for the Environment which has also provided some seed funding from its Sustainable Management Fund. Wellington's entry, The Plant Room, deals with existing building stock \\textendash demonstrating how to convert an existing building into a carbon neutral development. The regenerative habitat is an inner-city project that will generate energy, collect water, recycle waste and grow food whilst addressing urgent housing needs. It includes a series of linked outdoor \\textquotedblleftrooms\\textquotedblright to enliven, improve and extend an existing building.
