Hi. I'd love the ability to show my bibtex keys in the normal list of documents. e.g.
[bibtexkey] {icons} title additional citation info...
I'd love to be able to sort a list on their bibtex keys (the .../order/... trick).
(As suggested elsewhere) I'd love to be able to search on [parts of] bibtex keys.
I'd love to be able to find entries with missing bibtex keys.
Thanks!

It would be really really helpful if the bibtex (authoryearfirstword) key were displayed somewhere prominently on the article page - below the citation would be ideal. That way, I could just cite the key without having to worry about discrepancies when I download the *.bib file into jabref.

I have a question about the the authoryearfirstword keys that are generated by citeulike. If the first word is an article (a, an, the) are they not considered first words? Is there some way I can make citeulike recognize them as first words?

No, we deliberately strip them out when choosing the "first word".
Would you like such words includes as well or instead? What would you prefer for a title like "In the Days of Summer....."?

Logically, I would prefer Author2009Days.
However, I insert my references into my document as I import them into citeulike. I don't know what citeulike would pick so I tend to key in Author2009In before I get the bib file. When I finally download the bib to generate the reference list, I find out that CUL has picked "Days" and all the entries that I made earlier throw up errors. :/ That is why I made the first request - of having the bibkey available with the citation. But if that's not possible, there has to be some uniform way of naming that I can guess easily. Does CUL pick all common nouns and no "grammar/sentence-structure-related" words?

Currently, the first word which is not one of
a an the on not is
is used.

That's easy to remember. Is that an exhaustive list?
Are
as and because in so well are do can (any random alphabet)
etc.
are all taken as first words?

Yes, the list I gave you is all we use, but probably should be augmented with most of your words. "Well" is a tricky one, of course, maybe even "can"
"Can manufacturers develop new lid mechanism"
And no writer would begin a sentence with "and". Doh!

We've drifted a little ... can we get feedback (or even action!!) on the original request? Thx :-).

Yes. We're planning to make a lot more info available in the listing page (abstracts, DOIs, BibTeX keys, etc.)
