If a single note is added to a citation, it will not appear in the Bibtex record. If however a second note is added, both notes will appear in the Bibtex record with a separator as expected.

Seems to work for me (on the one test case I looked at). Can you post a link to an article where you don't get the note?

Sorry yes I am wrong - I was looking for a field called "note" but it is in the "comment" field as you said.
