API/JSON output

I have been using feed2js.org to convert the rss feed's (of citations rather than blog entrys or something else) to a JSON output my little web app can deal with but just wondering if I can shorten the hops and get a JSON feed directly from citeUlike instead of the rss feeds?! Done before?
