[CLOSED] Howto: Using CiteULike from Google Reader

I have just learned that Google Reader, a web interface to RSS feeds, can be customized to support posting to CUL.

This works as follows:

1. in Googe Reader go to the Settings page and choose the "Send To" tab (the rightmost one);

2. click "Create a custom link" button;

3. in the "Name" field enter "CiteULike" (or whatever pleases you);

4. in the "URL" field enter "http://www.citeulike.org/posturl?username=ansobol&bml=nopopup&url=${url}&title=${title}" (of course here and above all input goes without the quotes);

5. click "Save."

Now when you have a postable item open in Google Reader, hit Shift-T and choose "CiteULike" in yout "Send To" list. A CUL posting page will open in a separate tab.

Cool. Thanks Andrei. I'll check it out and add it to the Howtos.

What about World Peace?

Yeah. Freakin' cool. You can choose http://www.citeulike.org/favicon.ico as the icon.

Acknowledgement: I learned about the new "Send To" feature from a recent post on the blog Google Operating System

Well done Google - they seemed to have 1/2 killed this feature.

Yesterday I subscribed to PLoSone in Reader and all the URLs were fine, but now they come through as, e.g.,

http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/plosone/PLoSONE/~3/fMJZVp7OjH0/info:doi%2F10.1371%2Fjournal.pone.0006611

Google just trying to be too smart.

I'll see if I can fix this, perhaps in the way I do for DOIs.
