I have email alerts from WoS, called "Web of Knowledge Citation Alert"... it would be nice if I could forward those to post@citeulike.org (just like post@tripit.com) which would extract the relevant information from the email and automatically post the papers in there.
A typical header looks like:
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Cited Article: Steinbeck, C. The Chemistry Development Kit (CDK): An open-source Java library for chemo- and bioinformatics Alert Expires: 01 JUL 2013 Number of Citing Articles: 3 new records this week (3 in this e-mail) Organization ID: c19df8a8bd364f2fc3bd7a8ead53021f ======================================================================== Note: Instructions on how to purchase the full text of an article and Thomson Reuters Science Contact information are at the end of the e-mail. ========================================================================

Title: QSAR Models for P-Glycoprotein Transport Based on a Highly Consistent Data Set
Authors: Broccatelli, P
Author Full Names: Broccatelli, Pablo
Source: JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL INFORMATION AND MODELING, 52 (9):2462-2470; 10.1021/ci3002809 SEP 2012 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The DOIs are nowadays provided by the "Source:" line...
Entries in such an email would be added to your library, using DOI to see if they are already present. I can imagine other email citation alerts to be supported to, using templates, etc..
Such functionality would be really nice!

Since you use gmail, you could just highlight the DOI and post using the advanced bookmarklet.
UPDATE: I have modified the bookmarklet to work with HTTPS (such as gmail) - you need to bookmark it again.

Ah, useful. But with many DOIs in an email, I do not want to highlight them one by one...
It's just a feature request, and I know I need to get myself a gold account, I know... will try to make that happen soon.
