Precision calculation of processes used for luminosity measurement at the ZEUS experiment

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-9, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1574-9

Abstract

The process pe ±→pe ± γ with the photon emitted along the electron beam axis is used for luminosity measurement at HERA. In this paper the process is calculated including one-loop QED radiative corrections. In the ZEUS experiment, both the electron and the photon can be detected. Therefore both photon and electron spectra with and without the γ–e coincidence are analyzed. We also calculate the process pe ±→pe ± l − l + which contributes to the background in the electron ...

Remarks on the forces generated by two-neutrino exchange

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-6, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1568-7

Abstract

A brief up-to-date review of the long-range forces generated by two neutrino exchange is presented. The potential due to exchange of a massive neutrino–antineutrino pair between particles carrying weak charge might be larger than expected if the neutrinos have not only masses but also magnetic moments close to the present experimental bounds. It still remains too small to be observable. ...

Regge field theory in zero transverse dimensions: loops versus “net” diagrams

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-18, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1587-4

Abstract

Toy models of interacting Pomerons with triple and quaternary Pomeron vertices in zero transverse dimension are investigated. Numerical solutions for eigenvalues and eigenfunctions of the corresponding Hamiltonians are obtained, providing the quantum solution for the scattering amplitude in both models. The equations of motion of the theories are also considered and the classical solutions of the equations are found. Full two-point Green functions ( effective Pomeron propagator) and amplitude of diffractive dissociation process are calculated in the framework of RFT-0 ...

Unifying dark energy and dark matter with the modified Ricci model

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-4, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1588-3

Abstract

In this paper, two modified Ricci models are considered as the candidates of unified dark matter–dark energy. In model one, the energy density is given by , whereas, in model two, by . We find that they can explain both dark matter and dark energy successfully. A constant equation of state of dark energy is obtained in model one, which means that it gives the same background evolution as the wCDM model, while model two can give an evolutionary equation of ...

Abstract

The cross section for the diffractive deep-inelastic scattering process ep→eXp is measured, with the leading final state proton detected in the H1 Forward Proton Spectrometer. The data sample covers the range x ℙ<0.1 in fractional proton longitudinal momentum loss, 0.1<|t|<0.7 GeV2 in squared four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex and 4<Q 2<700 GeV2 in photon virtuality. The cross section is measured four-fold differentially in t,x ℙ,Q 2 and β=x/x ℙ, where x is the Bjorken scaling variable. The t and x ℙ dependences ...

Abstract

A search for squarks in R-parity violating supersymmetry is performed in e ± p collisions at HERA using the H1 detector. The full data sample taken at a centre-of-mass energy  GeV is used for the analysis, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 255 pb−1 of e + p and 183 pb−1 of e − p collision data. The resonant production of squarks via a Yukawa coupling λ′ is considered, taking into account direct and indirect R-parity violating decay modes. Final states with jets ...

Observational constraints on decaying vacuum dark energy model

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-7, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1586-5

Abstract

The decaying vacuum model (DV), treating dark energy as a varying vacuum, has been studied well recently. The vacuum energy decays linearly with the Hubble parameter in the late-times, ρ Λ (t)∝H(t), and produces the additional matter component. We constrain the parameters of the DV model using the recent data-sets from supernovae, gamma-ray bursts, baryon acoustic oscillations, CMB, the Hubble rate and X-rays in galaxy clusters. It is found that the best fit of the matter density contrast Ω ...

Hunting for CDF multi-muon “ghost” events at collider and fixed-target experiments

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-10, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1581-x

Abstract

In 2008 the CDF collaboration discovered a large excess of events containing two or more muons, at least one of which seemed to have been produced outside the beam pipe. We investigate whether similar ghost events could (and should) have been seen in already completed experiments. The CDF di-muon data can be reproduced by a simple model where a relatively light X particle undergoes 4-body decay. This model predicts a large number of ghost events in Fermilab fixed-target experiments ...

Production of the <i>P</i>-wave excited <i>B</i><i>c</i>-states through the <i>Z</i>0 boson decays

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-9, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1563-z

Abstract

In Deng et al. (Eur. Phys. J. C 70:113, 2010), we have dealt with the production of the two color-singlet S-wave -quarkonium states and through the Z 0 boson decays. As an important sequential work, we make a further discussion on the production of the more complicated P-wave excited -quarkonium states, i.e. and (with J=(1,2,3)). More over, we also calculate the channel with the two color-octet quarkonium states and , whose contributions to the decay width ...

Compton Upconversion of Twisted Photons: Backscattering of Particles with Non-Planar Wave Functions

Abstract

Twisted photons are not plane waves, but superpositions of plane waves with a defined projection hbar m of the orbital angular momentum onto the propagation axis (m is integer and may attain values m >> 1). Here, we describe in detail the possibility to produce high-energy twisted photons by backward Compton scattering of twisted laser photons on ultra-relativistic electrons with a Lorentz-factor gamma=E/(m_e c^2) >> 1. When a twisted laser photon with the energy hbar omega ~ 1 eV performs a collision with an electron and scatters backward, ...

Geometro-thermodynamics of tidal charged black holes

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 3. (1 March 2011), pp. 1-11, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1569-6

Abstract

Tidal charged spherically symmetric vacuum brane black holes are characterized by their mass m and tidal charge q, an imprint of the five-dimensional Weyl curvature. For q>0 they are formally identical to the Reissner–Nordström black hole of general relativity. We study the thermodynamics and thermodynamic geometries of tidal charged black holes and discuss similarities and differences as compared to the Reissner–Nordströ m black hole. As a similarity, we show that (for q>0) the heat capacity of the tidal charged black hole ...

Radiative corrections to the Dark Matter particles annihilation into massive leptons

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-11, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1561-1

Abstract

We calculate the radiative corrections to the annihilation of the Dark Matter particles into leptons. Lepton masses are taken into account. For the Dark Matter particles we consider both Dirac and Majorana fermions. We sum up all the leading logarithmic contributions where it is possible. We investigate the mass dependence of the resulting cross sections and show that quantitatively the answer is very sensitive to the lepton mass due to the leading logarithm singularity. ...

Clarifying some remaining questions in the anomaly puzzle

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-18, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1570-0

Abstract

We discuss several points that may help to clarify some questions that remain about the anomaly puzzle in supersymmetric theories. In particular, we consider a general supersymmetric Yang–Mills theory. The anomaly puzzle concerns the question of whether there is a consistent way in the quantized theory to put the R-current and the stress tensor in a single supermultiplet called the supercurrent, even though in the classical theory they are in the same supermultiplet. It was proposed that the classically conserved ...

Meson screening masses from lattice QCD with two light quarks and one strange quark

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-13, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1564-y

Abstract

We present results for screening masses of mesons built from light and strange quarks in the temperature range of approximately between 140 MeV to 800 MeV. The lattice computations were performed with 2+1 dynamical light and strange flavors of improved (p4) staggered fermions along a line of constant physics defined by a pion mass of about 220 MeV and a kaon mass of 500 MeV. The lattices had temporal extents N τ =4, 6 and 8 and aspect ratios of N s /N ...

Abstract

The nature of b-quark jet hadronisation has been investigated using data taken at the Z peak by the DELPHI detector at LEP. Two complementary methods are used to reconstruct the energy of weakly decaying b-hadrons, $$a= 1.84^+0.23_-0.21\quad\mboxand\quad b=0.642^+0.073_-0.063~\mathrmGeV^-2,$$ with a correlation factor ρ=92.2%. Combining the data on the b-quark fragmentation distributions with those obtained at the Z peak by ALEPH, OPAL and SLD, the average value of $$a= 1.48^+0.11_-0.10\quad\mboxand\quad b=0.509^+0.024_-0.023~\mathrmGeV^-2,$$ with a correlation ...

Does entropic force always imply the Newtonian force law?

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-5, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1549-x

Abstract

We study the entropic force by introducing a bound S≤A 3/4 between entropy and area which was derived by imposing the non-gravitational collapse condition. In this case, applying a modified entropic force to this system does not lead to the Newtonian force law. ...

Two-loop electroweak corrections to lepton magnetic dipole moments in the littlest Higgs model with T-parity

  [CiTO]

Abstract

Little Higgs models with T-parity predict the existence of the new sources of flavor-violating interactions between SM fermions and mirror fermions. We analyze corrections to the anomalous magnetic dipole moments of leptons from Bar-Zee-type diagrams in the LHT model. We find that the contributions of the LHT model are not sensitive to the new flavor mixing matrix and the value is of the order of 10−11. ...

Abstract

The production of beauty quarks in ep interactions has been studied with the ZEUS detector at HERA for exchanged four-momentum squared Q 2>10 GeV2, using an integrated luminosity of 363 pb−1. The beauty events were identified using electrons from semileptonic b decays with a transverse momentum  GeV and pseudorapidity |η e |<1.5. Cross sections for beauty production were measured and compared with next-to-leading-order QCD calculations. The beauty contribution to the proton structure function F 2 was extracted from the double-differential cross section ...

Hidden conformal symmetry of self-dual warped AdS3 black holes in topological massive gravity

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-8, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1566-9

Abstract

We extend the recently proposal of hidden conformal symmetry to the self-dual warped AdS3 black holes in topological massive gravity. It is shown that the wave equation of massive scalar field with sufficient small angular momentum can be reproduced by the SL(2, R) Casimir quadratic operator. Due to the periodic identification in the φ direction, it is found that only the left section of hidden conformal symmetry is broken to U(1), while the right section is unbroken, which only gives the left ...

Baryon chiral perturbation theory in manifestly Lorentz invariant form

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 9, No. 4. (1 July 1999), pp. 643-671, doi:10.1007/pl00021673

Abstract

We show that in the presence of massive particles, such as nucleons, the standard low-energy expansion, in powers of meson momenta and light-quark masses, in general converges in only part of the low-energy region. The expansion of the scalar form factor , for instance, breaks down in the vicinity of . In the language of heavy baryon chiral perturbation theory, the proper behaviour in the threshold region results only if the multiple internal-line insertions generated by relativistic kinematics are summed up ...

Deep inelastic scattering with a tagged photon: QED corrections for the <img src="/fulltext-image.asp?format=htmlnonpaginated&src=0U7420262772882W_html border="0" alt="$Σ$" /> method

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 9, No. 1. (1 June 1999), pp. 69-79, doi:10.1007/pl00021672

Abstract

After a brief review of the kinematics of deep inelastic scattering (DIS) within the so-called method, we derive the necessary formulae for the treatment of QED radiative corrections to DIS originating from hard photon radiation. The results are applied to a calculation of the corrections to DIS with a tagged photon with next-to-leading logarithmic accuracy under HERA conditions. It turns out that the next-to-leading logarithmic corrections are quite important for the method. We also discuss the dependence of the ...

Elliptic flow from colour strings

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-14, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1558-9

Abstract

It is shown that the elliptic flow can be successfully described in the colour string picture with fusion and percolation provided anisotropy of particle emission from the fused string is taken into account. Two possible sources of this anisotropy are considered, propagation of the string in the transverse plane and quenching of produced particles in the strong colour field of the string. Calculations show that the second source gives an overwhelming contribution to the flow at accessible energies. We obtain an ...

Jet algorithms in electron–positron annihilation: perturbative higher order predictions

Abstract

This article gives results on several jet algorithms in electron–positron annihilation: Considered are the exclusive sequential recombination algorithms Durham, Geneva, Jade-E0 and Cambridge, which are typically used in electron–positron annihilation. In addition also inclusive jet algorithms are studied. Results are provided for the inclusive sequential recombination algorithms Durham, Aachen and anti-k t , as well as the infrared-safe cone algorithm SISCone. The results are obtained in perturbative QCD and are N3LO for the two-jet rates, NNLO for the three-jet rates, ...

A UV completion of scalar electrodynamics

Abstract

In previous works, we constructed UV-finite and unitary scalar field theories with an infinite spectrum of propagating modes for arbitrary polynomial interactions. In this paper, we introduce infinitely many massive vector fields into a U(1) gauge theory to construct a theory with UV-finiteness and unitarity. ...

Leptogenesis bound on spontaneous symmetry breaking of global lepton number

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-4, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1560-2

Abstract

We propose a new class of leptogenesis bounds on the spontaneous symmetry breaking of global lepton number. These models have a generic feature of inducing new lepton number violating interactions, due to the presence of the Majorons. We analyzed the singlet Majoron model with right-handed neutrinos to find that the lepton number should be broken above 105 GeV to realize a successful leptogenesis because the annihilations of the right-handed neutrinos into the massless Majorons and into the standard model Higgs should go ...

Abstract

Single top quark production via four-fermion contact interactions associated to flavour-changing neutral currents was searched for in data taken by the DELPHI detector at LEP2. The data were accumulated at centre-of-mass energies ranging from 189 to 209 GeV, with an integrated luminosity of 598.1 pb−1. No evidence for a signal was found. Limits on the energy scale Λ, were set for scalar-, vector- and tensor-like coupling scenarios. ...

<i>N</i>=4 SYM and QCD motivated approach to soft interactions at high energies

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-22, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1553-1

Abstract

In this paper we construct a model that satisfies the theoretical requisites of high energy soft interactions, based on two ingredients: (i) the results of N=4 SYM, which at present is a unique theory that allows one to deal with a large coupling constant; and (ii) the requirement of matching with high energy QCD. In accordance with these ideas, we assume that the soft Pomeron intercept is relatively large, and the slope of the Pomeron trajectory is equal to zero. We derive analytical ...

Graviton and scalar propagations on AdS4 space in <i>f</i>(<i>R</i>) gravities

Abstract

We investigate propagations of graviton and additional scalar on four-dimensional anti-de Sitter (AdS4) space using f(R) gravity models with external sources. It is shown that there is the van Dam–Veltman–Zakharov (vDVZ) discontinuity in f(R) gravity models because f(R) gravity implies GR with additional scalar. This clearly indicates a difference between general relativity and f(R) gravity. ...

Abstract

Motivated by many worthwhile papers about (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black hole solutions, we generalize them to (n+1)-dimensional solutions, the so-called BTZ-like solutions. We show that the electric field of BTZ-like solutions is the same as that of (2+1)-dimensional BTZ black holes, and also their lapse functions are approximately the same, too. By these similarities, it is also interesting to investigate the geometric and thermodynamics properties of the BTZ-like solutions. We find that, depending on the metric parameters, the BTZ-like solutions may be ...

Bi-local baryon interpolating fields with two flavors

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-12, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1543-3

Abstract

We construct bi-local interpolating field operators for baryons consisting of three quarks with two flavors, assuming good isospin symmetry. We use the restrictions following from the Pauli principle to derive relations/identities among the baryon operators with identical quantum numbers. Such relations that follow from the combined spatial, Dirac, color, and isospin Fierz transformations may be called the (total/complete) Fierz identities. These relations reduce the number of independent baryon operators with any given spin and isospin. We also study the Abelian and ...

A comprehensive approach to new physics simulations

Abstract

We describe a framework to develop, implement and validate any perturbative Lagrangian-based particle physics model for further theoretical, phenomenological and experimental studies. The starting point is FeynRules, a Mathematica package that allows to generate Feynman rules for any Lagrangian and then, through dedicated interfaces, automatically pass the corresponding relevant information to any supported Monte Carlo event generator. We prove the power, robustness and flexibility of this approach by presenting a few examples of new physics models (the Hidden Abelian Higgs Model, the ...

Central exclusive quarkonium production with tagged forward protons at RHIC

Abstract

We study the Central Exclusive Production (CEP) of χ cJ and η c mesons at RHIC in proton–proton collisions. We consider the χ cJ →J/ψ + γ decay channels and, recalling that the J z =0 suppression of the J=1,2 states can be compensated by their larger branchings to J/ψ + γ, present predictions of rates and distributions for χ c(0,1,2) production. Particular attention is paid to the impact of p ⊥ cuts applied to the outgoing protons, ...

Abstract

A golden age for heavy quarkonium physics dawned a decade ago, initiated by the confluence of exciting advances in quantum chromodynamics (QCD) and an explosion of related experimental activity. The early years of this period were chronicled in the Quarkonium Working Group (QWG) CERN Yellow Report (YR) in 2004, which presented a comprehensive review of the status of the field at that time and provided specific recommendations for further progress. However, the broad spectrum of subsequent breakthroughs, surprises, and continuing puzzles could only be partially anticipated. Since the ...

Accessing directly the properties of fundamental scalars in the confinement and Higgs phase

Abstract

The properties of elementary particles are encoded in their respective propagators and interaction vertices. For a SU(2) gauge theory coupled to a doublet of fundamental complex scalars these propagators are determined in both the Higgs phase and the confinement phase and compared to the Yang–Mills case, using lattice gauge theory. Since the propagators are gauge dependent, this is done in the Landau limit of the ’t Hooft gauge, permitting to also determine the ghost propagator. It is found that neither the gauge ...

Abstract

In this paper, we propose two new models in f(T) gravity to realize the crossing of the phantom divide line for the effective equation of state, and we then study the observational constraints on the model parameters. The best fit results suggest that the observations favor a crossing of the phantom divide line. ...

Abstract

In our latest paper Search for anomalous top–gluon couplings at LHC revisited in Eur. Phys. J. C 65 (2010), 127–135 (arXiv:0910.3049 [hep-ph]), we studied possible effects of nonstandard top–gluon couplings through the chromoelectric and chromomagnetic moments of the top quark using the total cross section of at Tevatron/LHC. Abstract

Jet cross sections have been measured for the first time in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV using the ATLAS detector. The measurement uses an integrated luminosity of 17 nb−1 recorded at the Large Hadron Collider. The anti-k t algorithm is used to identify jets, with two jet resolution parameters, R=0.4 and 0.6. The dominant uncertainty comes from the jet energy scale, which is determined to within 7% for central jets above 60 GeV transverse momentum. Inclusive single-jet differential ...

The 3-3-1 model with <i>S</i>4 flavor symmetry

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-11, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1544-2

Abstract

We construct a 3-3-1 model based on family symmetry S 4 responsible for the neutrino and quark masses. The tribimaximal neutrino mixing and the diagonal quark mixing have been obtained. The new lepton charge related to the ordinary lepton charge L and a SU(3) charge by and the lepton parity P l =(−) L known as a residual symmetry of L have been introduced which provide insights in this kind of model. The expected vacuum alignments resulting ...

Charge asymmetry ratio as a probe of quark flavour couplings of resonant particles at the LHC

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-8, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1546-0

Abstract

We show how a precise knowledge of parton distribution functions, in particular those of the u and d quarks, can be used to constrain a certain class of New Physics models in which new heavy charged resonances couple to quarks and leptons. We illustrate the method by considering a left–right symmetric model with a W′ from a SU(2) R gauge sector produced in quark–antiquark annihilation and decaying into a charged lepton and a heavy Majorana neutrino. We discuss a number ...

Light flavor asymmetry of nucleon sea

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 2. (1 February 2011), pp. 1-10, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1542-4

Abstract

The light flavor antiquark distributions of the nucleon sea are calculated in the effective chiral quark model and compared with experimental results. The contributions of the flavor-symmetric sea-quark distributions and the nuclear EMC effect are taken into account to obtain the ratio of Drell–Yan cross sections σ pD/2σ pp, which can match well with the results measured in the FermiLab E866/NuSea experiment. The calculated results also match the measured in different experiments, but unmatch the behavior of derived indirectly ...

Decoherence and energy loss in QCD cascades in nuclear collisions

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 1. (1 January 2011), pp. 1-11, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-011-1537-1

Abstract

The paper analyzes the consequences of the assumption that the effects of quantum coherence and the resulting angular ordering in QCD cascades are disrupted within the hot fireball created in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions. The effects of decoherence are taken into account by switching off angular ordering for the vertices of MC-generated cascade that lie within the fireball of some given size. We show that decoherence exerts a pronounced influence on the spatiotemporal pattern of a cascade. Related effects due to ...

Abstract

We examine the problem of jet reconstruction at heavy-ion colliders using jet-area-based background subtraction tools as provided by FastJet. We use Monte Carlo simulations with and without quenching to study the performance of several jet algorithms, including the option of filtering, under conditions corresponding to RHIC and LHC collisions. We find that most standard algorithms perform well, though the anti-kt and filtered Cambridge/Aachen algorithms have clear advantages in terms of the reconstructed transverse-momentum offset and dispersion. ...

Abstract

The Color String Percolation Model (CSPM) is used to determine the equation of state (EOS) of the Quark–Gluon Plasma (QGP) produced in central Au–Au collisions at  A GeV using STAR data at RHIC. When the initial density of interacting colored strings exceeds the 2D percolation threshold a cluster is formed, which defines the onset of color deconfinement. These interactions also produce fluctuations in the string tension which transforms the Schwinger particle (gluon) production mechanism into a maximum entropy thermal distribution analogous to ...

Hawking radiation of Dirac particles from the Myers–Perry black hole

The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 1. (1 January 2011), pp. 1-8, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-010-1527-8

Abstract

In this paper, we apply the quantum anomaly cancelation method and the effective action approach as well as the method of Damour–Ruffini–Sannan to derive Hawking radiation of Dirac particles from the Myers–Perry black hole. Using the dimensional reduction technique, we find that the fermionic field in the background of the Myers–Perry black hole can be treated as an infinite collection of quantum fields in (1+1)-dimensional background coupled with the dilaton field and the U(1) gauge field near the horizon. Thus Hawking ...

Abstract

The decay is the U-spin partner of and allows a determination of the angle γ of the unitarity triangle of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix. Using updated information on the branching ratio and the relevant hadronic form factors, we discuss the picture that emerges for γ from the currently available data, which is in good agreement with the fits of the unitarity triangle. We point out that the decay also offers interesting probes to search for new physics in – ...

Towards measuring the stop mixing angle at the LHC

  [CiTO]
The European Physical Journal C - Particles and Fields, Vol. 71, No. 1. (1 January 2011), pp. 1-16, doi:10.1140/epjc/s10052-010-1517-x

Abstract

We address the question of how to determine the stop mixing angle and its CP-violating phase at the LHC. As an observable we discuss ratios of branching ratios for different decay modes of the light stop to charginos and neutralinos. These observables can have a very strong dependence on the parameters of the stop sector. We discuss in detail the origin of these effects. Using various combinations of the ratios of branching ratios we argue that, depending on the scenario, ...
