What I do

Currently, I am a post-doctoral researcher in bioinformatics, computational biology and machine learning. The goal of my research is to integrate omics data to build predictive models for personalized medicine in oncology. During my PhD research I created a Bayesian network framework able to integrate genomics, transcriptomics and proteomics data to predict diagnosis, prognosis or therapy response of cancer patients. This framework was applied to predict malignancy in ovarian cancer, distinguish familial and sporadic ovarian cancer and to predict therapy response in rectal cancer patients. Currently, my focus is on the use of machine learning methods such as Bayesian networks and support vector machines to build integrative models for oncology.
