I hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics, and have been a lecturer and researcher at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid (UCM) and the Universidad Europea de Madrid (UEM), for 10 years, where I have been the Head of the Department of Computer Science. Currently I am R&D Director at the security firm Optenet.

I have co-authored a number of research papers, which can be accessed at my home page. I have been Program Committee member for CEAS 2007, the spam Symposium 2007 and other conferences, and reviewed papers for JASIST, ECIR, and others. I have also reviewed research project proposals for the European Commission and other agencies.

My main research interests include several Artificial Intelligence topics like Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML), with applications to Information Access in newspapers and biomedicine, and Adversarial Information Retrieval with applications to spam filtering and pornography detection on the Web.
