X Abstract

An example of the construction of a spatial and attribute database using aerial photography and GIS is described. Two vegetative layers on two large experimental plots were interpreted on the aerial photographs and digitized. A theme of trap locations was generated and linked to the results of 16 trapping days spanning periods before and after the application of a pesticide. The GIS was used to calculate values which will be used in a later study to model the effects of the pesticide on the small-mammal community. Both aerial photography and GIS show promise for improving the efficiency with which data can be gathered and processed for pesticide evaluations.
