X Abstract

The analysis of the production of youth culture invokes questions which are central to contemporary debates with anthrop. This book is the first to offer a range of ethno- graphically based studies of different kinds of youth culture within varied national contexts. Shows how young people (`problem' as well as `mainstream') are active in the construction of meanings and symbols in youth culture.
