X Abstract

Teaching the Media is a comprehensive study of media education which is an indispensible guide to all teachers and students of the media. It provides detailed answers to such fundamental questions as “Why study the media?” “How can the media be taught in a disciplined way?” and “Why has media teaching been less than conspicuosuly successful during its 50 year history?” Chapters on media determinants, rhetoric, ideology and audiences contain up-dates on the relevant literature in these areas, perceptive analyses of media issues and texts, and detailed suggestions for classroom practice.
