X Abstract

There is an excellent introduction to the subject called "An Introduction to Credit Scoring" by Edward Lewis. We did not wish to simply reproduce this, but to enliven the subject with the breadth of experience offered by a range of authors dealing as much with the hands-on issues as with the theory. As the book took shape, it developed beyond the original concept of the seminar. The concept of the seminar and of the book was to provide a firm grounding in the subject whilst touching on the issues. There was also the user perspective to provide some practical tips on scorecard building. In addition to the seminar talks, the book goes deeper into the concepts. It covers the scorecard build process, scorecard validation and the practical issues with customer-based scoring. The book also looks at more advanced scoring issues covered in the chapters on Profit Scoring, Recessions and Recession Scoring and Bayesian Belief Scoring.
