INTRODUCTION Although it is common standard practice to carry out culture and sensitivity test in the treatment of bacterial infection, such method is rarely employed in the day-to-day chemotherapy of cancer. Often the cancer patient is treated by a combination of cytotoxic drugs guided by reports from oncology centres and by the personal experience and preference of the attending physician. It is the purpose of this paper to report on the feasibility of chemo-sensitivity assay (CSA) on surgically resected specimens and the results and possible clinical significance of such a test.
