Este artículo analiza los principales puntos de convergencia y divergencia entre los lenguajes documentales y las ontologías en tanto que herramientas para la organización del conocimiento y para la recuperación de información en el ámbito de la web semántica. Se describen los aspectos fundamentales de una ontología, así como las principales características semánticas y estructurales de los lenguajes documentales para establecer una comparación entre ellos.The main points of convergence and divergence between controlled indexing languages and ontologies, tools for knowledge organization and information retrieval in the semantic web, are described. Fundamental aspects of ontologies are presented, as well as the basic semantic and structural characteristics of traditional controlled languages.
