X Abstract

This report will first, in Chapter 2, give an introduction to the field of information extraction and then, in Chapter 3, look at the development of the field of wrapper generation for Web sources. Chapter 4 gives an overview of systems developed for information extraction from Web sites, and Chapter 5 looks at different applications of the technology, and describes the first commercial systems that have appeared on this scene.
