AbstractMultiple comparison tests are not ordinarily employed in econometric analysis. An example of the application of a step-down approach to a much studied problem is set forth. Comments on the estimated results and on the relevance of these tests to the present and other economic analyses are also presented. The application of the multiple comparison tests aids in the identification of a relatively simple regression equation of residential natural gas demand.
