Abstract

This paper explores the use of Hidden Markov Models (HMMs) for the recognition of head gestures. A gesture corresponds to a particular pattern of head movement. The facial plane is tracked using a parameterized model and the temporal sequence of three image rotation parameters are used to describe four gestures. A dynamic vector quantization scheme was implemented to transform the parameters into suitable input data for the HMMs. Each model was trained by the iterative Baum-Welch procedure...

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
