X Abstract

A new procedure for edge detection in textured grey-level images is outlined, using the Jensen-Shannon divergence measure between the grey-level histograms of two adjacent regions defined by a sliding window. The procedure is computationally simple and provides a basic tool for both a sharpening technique and an early texture segmentation
