AbstractThe increasing demand for bioethics education has been a concern of the Nordic Committee on Bioethics for some time. In November 2001, the Committee organised the first workshop on this topic, entitled Teaching Bioethics, in order to gain an overview of what was being done in the field of bioethics education in the Nordic countries. The workshop confirmed the great demand for bioethics education. It also showed that both the quality and quantity of this education varies considerably from country to country, and also within the same country. The various teaching activities are not coordinated, and there is a need for competent teachers and suitable teaching material.
