AbstractIt is expected in the near future that ISO 14000 registered companies will have to comply with all environmental regulations and respond quickly to changes in these regulations. With the advent of ISO 14000, there is a potentially critical need for a mechanism to assist companies in finding, tracking and determining compliance with all applicable environmental regulations. This paper discusses a World Wide Web-based broker for environmental regulations. The broker is a virtual centralized location where companies could go to search for environmental regulations applicable to their business activities. Because the broker operates over a distributed wide-area network, national and international regulatory agencies would be able to access the broker to register regulations. A prototype broker exists, but further work is needed to make it an effective ISO 14000 support tool
