AbstractEvolutionary psychology is an approach to the cognitive sciences whose goal is to map the evolved, species-typical cognitive and neural architecture of humans (and other species). Its focus is on integrating what is known about evolution into the research process, allowing evolutionary psychologists to derive hypotheses about the design of human information-processing mechanisms from the large pre-existing body of theories already developed and empirically tested within modern evolutionary biology.
