X Abstract

The problem of a half-space subjected to an interior concentrated force is posed as a superposition problem. For a free plane boundary it is shown that the boundary condition of traction may be expressed directly through the normal derivative of a harmonic Green's function by means of a linear operator. These circumstances at once generate the classical result. For a clamped boundary such a procedure becomes cumbersome and direct integration, in a manner proposed by Sanders, is performed.

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
