The enterprise architecture community is plagued by fragmentation and misunderstandings. These challenges are hindering the communities’ capacity to establish a enterprise architecture as a discipline and a profession. Moreover, newcomers to the community are easily confused by the existence of perceived contradictory beliefs and stances, especially with regards to topics such as: what is EA and what is not. One of the key contributing factors to these challenges is the existence in the community of a number of implicit stances on EA which people often adhere to but rarely explicit discuss. The objective of this article is to shed some light on these stances in order to create awareness and foster discussions on beliefs pertaining to EA which could help the process of integrating the community into a whole.
