Abstract

Numerical results are presented for the segregational behaviour in the hydrogen-adsorbed NixCui1-x alloy system in which the equilibria of adsorption and segregation are treated in a self-consistent manner. For the powdered systems the nickel atoms are found to segregate to the surface in the presence of H adatoms. In crystalline alloy systems the Cu atoms segregate to the surface, but the amount of Cu segregation in the presence of H adatoms is less than that for a clean alloy surface.
