X Abstract

T paper presents an anlytical study of the debonding of planar elastic inclusions and inhomogeneities. The standard inhomogeneity and inclusion (transformation) problems of Eshelby, which require a coherent interface, are reconsidered to allow for debonding. It is assumed that the inclusion or inhomogeneity interacts with the matrix through a prescribed interface force law which depends on the displacement jump at the interface. The solution procedure, which is not dependent on a particular inhomogeneity or inclusion geometry, force law or even planar elasticity, ultimately leads to a pair of integral equations governing the displacement jump at the interface. Detailed analytical solutions to the circular inclusion and inhomogeneity problems are obtained for the case where the interfacial traction varies linearly with displacement jump across the interface.

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
