X Abstract

This two-day pre-conference covered the seven core sessions of the Basic Serials Cataloging Workshop of the Serials Cataloging Cooperative Training Program. The first eight sessions of the workshop were covered. Each session contained illustrative examples and practice exercises. The goals of the workshop were to give participants the ability to identify a serial, create original records for serials, identify and edit serials records, and become familiar with MARC tagging used for serials. The sessions were practical with many useful "rules-of-thumb" examples. The scope of the workshop focused on non-electronic serials unless specifically mentioned. Reprinted by permission of the publisher.
