X Abstract

The article focuses on missing links in online information searching. Every Internet user has encountered a dead link. According to an article by computer scientist Diomidis Spinellis, who examined 2,471 articles and 4,224 URL references appearing in his discipline between 1995 and 1999, close to 50 percent of the references became inaccessible within 4 years of publication date. OpenURL, DOI and LoCKSS have provided some relief to Web searchers and researchers to address the problem.
