AbstractThe Artificial Cytoskeleton (AC) is introduced as a new model for generating adaptive growth of an artificial cell's morphology throughout its lifetime in response to environmental cues. The AC utilizes swarm and cellular automata techniques. It is closely modelled on the eukaryotic cytoskeleton which is responsible for giving the cell dynamic structure and function.
