AbstractIn this thesis we take a graph-theoretic approach to the automatic acquisition of word meanings. We represent the nouns in a text in form of a semantic graph consisting of words (the nodes) and relationships between them (the links). Links in the graph are based on cooccurrence of nouns in lists. We find that valuable information about the meaning of words and their interactions can be extracted from the resulting semantic structure.
