Abstract

The Mean King Problem involves a state prepared by Alice to her choice. The King measures this state in one of several di?erent orthonormal bases (b). Alice is now allowed one control experiment of her design on the resultant state. At this point the system becomes inaccessible to her. Her task now being the determination of the outcome (m) of the King's measurement upon being informed, after her control experiment of the basis (b) used by the King. In the Tracking of the King problem her task is to determine by her control measurement only (i.e. with no additional information) both the outcome (m) and the basis (b) of the King's measurement.
