X Abstract

The authors have developed and implemented a Telephone Linked Computer (TLC) System that is capable of conversing with patients by telephone by utilizing voice synthesis. The TLC system has been designed to converse in a human-like manner. This requires speech generation (1) devoid of unnatural lapses and (2) system responses that are logical and appropriate.
