AbstractSummary In Baden-Württemberg in 1994 and 1995 approximately 390 persons fell ill after infection with the tick-borne encephalitis (TBE) virus. Detailed clinical data were available from 300 patients for further analysis. TBE mostly manifested as meningitis (50%) or meningoencephalitis (38%) and more rarely as encephalomyelitis and/or radiculitis (12%). Four patients with encephalomyelitis died.
