Abstract

When the popularity of the Internet has increased worldwide, there have been various websites to be established and used all over the world. Especially Facebook has been very popular amongst the youth and the use of this website has been noticed in the academic field because there are various reasons for this popularity. Therefore, the aim of this study is to examine the motivation factors of university preparatory school students for using Facebook. The study takes place in the English Preparatory School of Eastern Mediterranean University during the Fall Semester of the Academic Year 2010 - 2011. In the study the scale developed and used by Gülnar, Balci and Qakir (2010) was applied to investigate the motivation factors of using Facebook.
