doi: 10.1021/cm801783f Here, the photophysical properties of the dicyanomethylenedihydrofuran (DCDHF) push−pull fluorophores with π-bridges of combinations of phenyl and thiophene rings synthesized are environment-sensitive. All these fluorophores have red-shifted absorption and high quantum emission yields, and they are suitable for single-molecule experiments in a cellular environment upon functionalization.
