Abstract

We define a notification hierarchy including a set of unified link-layer triggers to be used for cross-layer optimization in heterogeneous wireless networks. Unlike previous suggestions, our approach is not specific to IEEE 802-technologies, and can be used by applications as well as network and transport protocol entities.
