X Abstract

We describe how to perform developmental simulations with Cellerator. Biochemical reactions, specified in Cellerator with a compact, arrow-based notation, are automatically translated into the appropriate ordinary differential equations. These reactions can be combined into modules, leading to a natural graph-based hierarchical implementation. We demonstrate how the paradigm of organisms-as-graphs can represent the basic features of developing tissue, and propose a variable-structure graph-based algorithm to describe simple developmental processes. In particular, we show how such a variable-structure system (VSS) can be implemented using a pre-packaged fixedstructure differential equation solver.

CiteULike organises scholarly (or academic) papers or literature and provides bibliographic (which means it makes bibliographies) for universities and higher education establishments. It helps undergraduates and postgraduates. People studying for PhDs or in postdoctoral (postdoc) positions. The service is similar in scope to EndNote or RefWorks or any other reference manager like BibTeX, but it is a social bookmarking service for scientists and humanities researchers.
