AbstractAn automatic procedure to post-process the 1H magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS) signal is presented. The procedure, after the removal of the residual water signal, separates the metabolic peaks of MRS spectrum from the background noise and decomposes the spectrum in a sum of Lorentzian functions and Gaussian noise. As a result relevant metabolic information such as the relative concentrations of metabolites are automatically computed. The proposed procedure has been tested versus the manual analysis of four independent operators in order to verify the reliability of the extracted parameters
