In this paper, we review selected studies on neurobiological interpretations of stereotypy and pharmacological interventions for stereotypy. Specifically, we review studies that evaluated the effects of serotonin uptake inhibitors (e.g., clomipramine) or opioid antagonists (e.g., naltrexone) on stereotypy displayed by humans.
