X Abstract

This dissertation is pretty much exactly what we've been looking for!!! He breaiks down consumer choices into direct and indirict influences on energy consumption. A direct influence is emitted at the same time a consumer uses a product or service, while an indirect influence is before. For example, "purchasing gasoline leads to indirect influences through energy consumed for exploitation, refining, and delivery ... [while] driving a car leads to direct influences because gasoline is consumed and CO2 is emitted..." p. 15 has a table with examples of these, while p. 14 has a chart (generic) laying them out. p. 12 has a model of all of the determinants of consumer energy consumption, something we might all wish to take a look at.
