X Abstract

In this manual a filmmaker takes readers behind the scenes in a series of candid interviews with creators of influential documentaries. In the filmmakers' own words, the volume tells of the challenges and triumphs faced in making documentaries, and knowledge is shared on such topics as the documentary process and technique, ethical boundaries, funding, film festivals, and more. Those interviewed include: Ross McElwee, Albert Maysles, Susan Froemke, Bruce Sinofsky, Liz Garbus, D.A. Pennebaker, Chris Hedegus, Allie Light and Nick Broomfield.
